My three children are completely different from each other but they get along quite well. We also home school so we needed a version of Phy Ed that my dinged up hubby could teach. An option presented itself to us in Bal Yoga for Kids.
So how did our trial go?
Let me first describe Bal Yoga. The Bal Yoga comes as both a book and a set of a DVD and a CD. It begins with some basic stretches to warm the user up. Then it goes into a series of positions that make one work out several muscle groups. These series of moves follow the alphabet and have a small poem to help keep the time. The multiple changes in positions and the simple words they associate are done in a very good pace to retain the attention of even an 19 month old. It ends with a few more stretches to round it out.
Initially, only my 11-yr-old started doing the yoga exercises as one of many forms of physical education that don’t involve my husband having to do much outside of supervising. My youngest quickly joined in as she is the do-all daredevil. My middle one started off as a cheerleader from the couch. Now, all three of them do the Bal Yoga up to 5 times a week as a combination of exercise and entertainment.
Sometimes, I join them as well so this is good for all ages who can handle doing yoga. As a matter of fact, my family likes it so much that we need to share more than just our words. We would like to submit the opportunity to a lucky winner of a giveaway.
You do not need to believe in the spiritual aspect of yoga to benefit from the exercise routine. But if you want to , you can. I must say you need to focus at what you are doing or any number of things could go wrong, especially if your kids decide that your position looks like a bridge to crawl under.
We highly recommend BalYoga!
Thank you,
Anah
